On August 11, 2012, The Tommy Foundation NYC Chapter had their first event-a spa day for moms and dads of individuals on the autism spectrum. We had amazing beauty consultants who took hours out of their weekend to give back to the community and help moms and dads that don't often take those little moments away to pamper themselves. These consultants offered free haircuts, hairstyles, makeup application, manicures, massages and facials. Parents also had a chance to start their day with a free yoga session from Virayoga Studio in Manhattan!
One of our amazing consultants, Samantha Lennon wrote a blog for Beauty Insider Magazine about her experience with this event.
Thank you to all our professional consultants and providers: Victor Amos (Make-up artist), Sonia Castleberry (hairstylist), Dori Rivera (hairstylist), Samantha Lennon (make-up Artist), Richard Janof, DC and Madeline Gage (facials), Dr. Dennis Gage, MD, FACP (massages), Cassandra Lamar (manicurist), Hiromi Kameyama (manicurist), Cakes By Brown Suga (desserts), Shavon Mapp (hairstylist), Kelly Baber (Manicurist), Margie Jason (facials), Dona Marans Lessuk (massage therapist), Chef Brent, Katie Bejarano, Chef Bonnie Foehr and Chef Jeremy Maldonado (Catering), Allison Terracio (yoga), Melody of Autism (childcare providers), and Kimberly Shank, an occupational therapist from Central, PA.
We are extremely humbled by the very warm reception we received from the public, the families that attended, our providers, the volunteers for the day and in particular to the Harrison Family who maticulously planned every last detail of this important event. Finally we are extremely appreciative for the support of The Church of the Resurrection in Manhattan and Pastor Kimberly Wright for allowing us to use their beautiful space for our event.
Can't wait for the next event!!
